Week 8 Power Rankings (2017-2018) Season

I haven't posted in a long time. In over a year actually. I just don't have time so now Moshe Football is pretty much regulated to tweets and Facebook posts. But today I saw the NFL.com Power Rankings which had the Rams ranked at number 2. I thought that was a little high. Since I have sometime today, I decided to post.

Now, some of you might remember that I used to do weekly Power Rankings. That was a long time ago. Don't be excited that that is coming back. This is a one time thing. I wish I could, but I just don't have the time to do weekly rankings.

Note that while I was doing this I realized I will only have time to do a top-ten Power Rankings. I'm rusty and forgot how long this takes.

#1 Philadelphia Eagles (6-1) - Obviously the Eagles have the best record and therefore it makes sense that they would cement first place this week, but they didn't do that until their win Monday. I don't mean they won so they get first, I mean they needed a good win to show they are number 1. If they beat the 49ers or Colts, I'm not sure they would be up here. But they beat the Redskins (for the second time this season) who are a real threat in the NFC East.

#2 Kansas City Chiefs (5-2) - I get that they lost two in a row, but those were tough games against tough teams. It is still very arguable that the Chiefs are the true number one team. They beat the Eagles, Patriots, Chargers, Redskins, and Texans this year, all teams who have at least three wins this year.

#3 Pittsburgh Steelers (5-2) - It's pretty hard to place any team in number three. There is a big discrepancy between the top two teams and the rest of the NFL, but the Steelers seem to be the next "best" up right now. They just beat the Chiefs and are in a great position to take the number one overall seed in the AFC.

#4 New England Patriots (5-2) - The Patriots are being put around number 5 in almost every major Power Rankings. People love complaining and saying, "Hey they barely beat the Jets, this is just ESPN/NFL/SI/(Insert Publisher) bias." First off, the Jets aren't as bad as everyone thought they would be. Second, the Pats defense has put it together the last few weeks, and that was the issue. Third, when you have been dominant for 16 years, you get a pass on a few bad losses. Good teams win PERIOD. Doesn't matter if it is ugly or bad, a good teams wins. The Patriots win!

#5 Seattle Seahawks (4-2) - The Seahawks have had a combination of easy wins, ugly wins, and bad losses this year. But they always start off slow. Again, winning is what matters in the NFL, who cares about ugliness. Right now they are the top of the NFC West and their win over the Rams in LA gives them the edge in the Power Rankings.

#6 Los Angeles Rams (5-2) - When is the last time you saw the Rams in the top six of any Power Rankings before this year? Jeff Fisher was the issue. But let's temper expectations, the Rams have a tough schedule coming up.

#7 Minnesota Vikings (5-2) - The Vikings defense is so good, they don't really need a QB on offense, but they have two starters set to comeback. If Teddy Bridgewater and Sam Bradford can come back anytime soon, this team can be a real contender.

#8 Jacksonville Jaguars (4-3) - The Jaguars are also a surprise team this year. Not only have they beat a top team like the Steelers, but they blew-out a bunch of mid-tier teams. Their three losses are from the Rams, Titans, and tougher-than-thought Jets. Only one of those games was not close.

#9 Buffalo Bills (5-2) - The Bills can actually take the AFC East this year. They probably won't though. The Bill always start out strong, but every year after about four to five wins they suck. But until then they are at number 9.

#10 Dallas Cowboys (3-3) - Okay, Cowboy haters, feel free to attack me, but the Cowboys are the only .500 team to make the top ten. They destroyed the 49ers last week (who despite being winless have lost five of their seven games by three points or less). People underestimate how much of football is a mental game. Ezekiel Elliot's case has been a distraction, but the Cowboys seem to be handling the distraction well. Don't sleep on the Cowboys, their losses are against the Rams, the pre-injured Aaron Rodgers Packers, and the Broncos.
