St. Louis Simply Surprise Saints

Rams 31, Saints 21

Yes, there was an article last year with a similar name (Arizona Simply Surprises Saints). Maybe every year New Orleans just underestimates one NFC West team. Or at least Drew Brees does who really wanted a touchdown to keep his 34 game streak going. He got that TD in the final seconds.

Rams Pro - Everything from Offense to Defense to Special teams.

Rams Con - Some false starts and late penalties almost shot them in the foot.

Saints Pro - Nothing! Horrible display after a 62-7 defeat of the Colts the week before.

Saints Con - Everything from Offense to Defense to Special teams.

The Hot Seat

It is that time of the year where coaches get fired. Here an analysis in every coach. The levels are Super Cold, Cold, Warm, Hot, Red Hot.

Arizona Cardinal-Ken Whisenhunt-Warm

Since 2007, Ken Whisenhunt has been the Cardinal head coach and brought them to a Superbowl in 2008. In 2009 they went back to the playoffs but that was with Kurt Warner. Since then they've sucked and this seat has been slowly getting warmer.

Atlanta Falcons-Mike Smith-Cold

Despite the Falcons slow start this year, this seat is safe. Mike Smith has been consistently good.

Baltimore Ravens-John Harbaugh-Super Cold

Everyone knows the Ravens are good and every year John Harbaugh keeps bringing them to the playoffs. The only thing warm about this seat though is they don't show up every game (most recently the monday night Jaguar game.)

Buffalo Bills-Chan Gailey-Cold

Only the second year as the Bills coach and so much improvement for a team that has been bad since the 90s. Chan has made them in to a Playoff  spot contending team, and made Ryan Fitzpatrick a Franchise QB.

Carolina Panthers-Ron Rivera-Cold

The new coach of the panthers and he has already doubled their record from last year. The Panthers still need much improvement, but he is heading them in the right direction.

Chicago Bears-Lovie Smith-Warm

Every year he is in a hot seat. But Why? He consistently brings a good team and brought them to the Superbowl with Rex Grossman as the QB.

Cincinnati Bengals-Marvin Lewis-Cold

Marvin Lewis has been the coach for the Bengals since 2003. In that time he has almost a .500 record. The past few years they have been disappointing but this year with Andy Dalton as QB they have a winning record.

Cleveland Browns-Pat Shurmur-Cold

Pat Shurmur is the new coach for the Browns. Last year he was the Rams offensive coordinator and helped bring a team from 1-15 to 7-9, when he left they went 0-6. He was a good pickup and should be the coach they need.

Dallas Cowboys-Jason Garret-Cold

Wade Phillips was a bad coach and Jason Garret took over in 2010. They still need improvements but he is making Romo and the team into men.

Denver Broncos-John Fox-Cold

John Fox took over this year but not much seems approved. If the Broncos don't look good he may be there for two years.

Detroit Lions-Jim Shwartz-Super Cold

One of the teams who've been bad for decades has become good. Jim Shwartz is on track for coach of the year.

Green Bay Packers-Mike McCarthy-Super Cold

A seat can not get colder. Anytime you win the Superbowl you have the safest job in the NFL.

Houston Texans-Gary Kubiak-Cold

Since 2006 Gary has been the Coach but they haven't made the playoffs. That doesn't mean they aren't good and this may be the first year they make the playoffs.

Indianapolis Colts-Jim Caldwell-Warm

Losing your star QB for a year is an excuse to do bad but the Colts have been horrible (just lost 62-7 versus the Saints). And let's not lie, since Tony Dungy left the team has been slowly going down.

Jacksonville Jaguars-Jack Del Rio-Hot

Jack Del Rio has been the coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars for sometime now but they never amounted to anything. His recent win against Baltimore has bought him time but if he doesn't have a winning season he should be fired at the season.

Kansas City Chiefs-Todd Haley-Cold

Last year the Chiefs went to the playoffs. This year they had a tough start but Todd Haley stopped shaving and they started winning. Superstitions much?

Miami Dolphins-Tony Sparano-Red Hot

Tony has been coach since 2008 and in it has gotten worse every year. He just blew a 15 point lead in three minutes to the Broncos. If he loses this week expect the first firing if the season. Also quick note; Bush was a bust once again.

Minnesota Vikings-Leslie Frazier-Cold

The Vikings don't look great but a new coach is usually safe.

New England Patriots-Bill Belichick-Super Cold

The Patriots have been the best team of the 2000s and Bill is one of the most tenured coachs in the league. He will never have a reason to worry here.

New Orleans Saints-Sean Payton-Super Cold

Sean took over in 2006, a year after Hurricane Katrina. The Saints were a mess but he made them into a Superbowl winning team. This year they may be the best team besides the Packers.

New York Giants-Tom Coughlin-Warm

Yes they won a Superbowl but recently they haven't look so good. He'll be safe for the rest of the year but depending on how the Giants play the rest of the season, a hot seat will be on next year.

New York Jets-Rex Ryan-Super Cold

Two back to back AFC Championship appearances and one of the best coaches in the league, you'd got to be crazy to think he is not the guy for J-E-T-S fans.

Oakland Raiders-Hue Jackson-Cold

Hue has really turned this team around. In a few years under him, they can be Superbowl contending.

Philadelphia Eagles-Andy Reid-Warm

A so called 'Dream Team' mad him look like a jerk this year even if he told his team to stop. Micheal Vick's performance this year makes Andy under question about his decision making.

Pittsburgh Steelers-Mike Tomlin-Cold

Mike Tomlin had big shoes to fill after Bill Cowher's departure but he did just that. He is a great coach.

San Diego Chargers-Norv Turner-Warm

Rex Ryan stated that if he was the Chargers coach he would of one multiple Superbowls already. Guess what! He's probably right. Norv Turner will never bring them where they want to be. They need a better coach.

San Francisco 49ers-Jim Harbaugh-Super Cold

He is having the best rookie coach season of the season. The 49ers are 5-1 and winning for the first time in a long time.

Seattle Seahawks-Pete Carrol-Cold

Pete Carrol is a horrible pro coach. But for some reason it seems like Seattle loves him.

St. Louis Rams-Steve Spagnola-Hot

A lockout, multiple injuries, and the hardest opening schedule in the NFL gives Steve some good excuses. Don't expect him on the chopping block until next year.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers-Raheem Morris-Cold

This is a team with many expectations but it may not be there year for the playoff. Raheem Morris may have to wait another year.

Tennessee Titans-Mike Munchak-Cold

Jeff Fisher has been there forever but this year Mike Munchak took over and the team is competitive and Matt Hasselback is being revived.

Washington Redskins-Mike Shanahan-Cold

The only questions he really is facing, "Why hire your son?" and "Can't you figure out a QB already?".

Ryan's Team Beats Turner's Team

Jets 27, Chargers 21

Before this game, an announcer asked Rex Ryan about the Chargers and all he could say is how would of already win multiple Superbowls with them. Great way to make your team feel good. Turner quickly responded with asking "Where are the rings?". Turner didn't make his own coaching ability sound good. But all in all, the Chargers have more talent but the Jets have the better coach and that won them the game

Jets Pro - WR Burress had his comeback game.

Jets Con -They came out slow and the Chargers took control early/

Chargers Pro - They had some great runs yesterday.

Chargers Con - QB Rivers let this game go.

Jets Keep Rival Dolphins Winless

Jets 24, Dolphins

The Dolphins looked horrible coming off a bye week because Rex Ryan coached his team to a win after two tough losses. The Jets are 3-3 as the Dolphins are 0-5.

Jets Pro - Finally getting a much needed win and a lot thanks to CB Revis

Jets Con - Though they won, it was against the Dolphins.

Dolphins Pro - QB Moore seems to be a positive.

Dolphins Con - Everything.

Green Bay Stays Perfect as the Rams Stay Winless

Packers 24, Rams 3

The Rams actually played well besides for the second quarter when the Packers just went unstoppable. In the second half the Rams stopped Green Bay from scoring at all. But Spagnola doesn't care about personal victories as he has said, but only wins, something he has not gotten this year.

Packers Pro - Basically doing what keeps getting them wins.

Packers Con - They give a lot of yards up. Even if they don't give up points it doesn't look great for stats.

Rams Pro - Bradford is so accurate and Jackson was obviously missed by the Rams.

Rams Con - They just can't get into the end zone.

Lions Advance to Five Undefeated

Lions 24, Bears 13

Lions took control of the game with the first touchdown of the game to Megatron. While no team played spectacular, the Bears killed themselves with stupid penalties and giving up big plays. With a win versus long time rivals the Lions are 5-0 for the first time since 1956.

Lions Pro - Scott Linehan did a good job calling the offensive plays against the Bears who pride themselves in not giving up big plays.

Rams Schedule May Be Political Move for LA

The Los Angeles Rams played their last game in the Coliseum in 1994. They've been in Los Angeles for 49 years. That year Los Angeles lost both of its football team. The second biggest market would not build a new stadium for the Rams or Raiders, and the late Georgia Frontiere of the Rams and Al Davis of the Raiders moved their teams. The Rams to St. Louis and the Raiders to Oakland.
Many claim Frontiere was kicked out of Los Angeles and that Davis was just using Los Angeles until Oakland made a new stadium. The Rams and the Raiders however were not the only team that has played in Los Angeles. In 1960 the Los Angeles Chargers played their first season. After that season though they left do to too much competition with the Rams.
Los Angeles has been trying to get a team back for sometime now. Over the past couple of years articles have been popping up about a Los Angeles move. But recently they've become more frequent. While the Vikings, Raiders, Chargers, Jaguars, and Bills have all headlined those articles the Rams have headlined them even that much more besides for maybe the Chargers. A move Los Angeles and the Rams might be very happy to see.
Recently Stan Kroenke a Missouri native became the majority owner of the Rams after some careful transactions with his other teams to not break NFL's dual ownership rule on other big teams such as the Denver Avalanche and Denver Nuggets. He is a business man first and a move to Los Angeles might be the move to make to bring the Rams worth north of 1 Billion. But Kroenke is playing it cool. He leaves simple comments to keep St. Louis of the edge. Kroenke has stated "I'm going to attempt to do everything that I can to keep the Rams in St. Louis. Just as I did everything that I could to bring the team to St. Louis in 1995. I believe my actions speak for themselves." But take that with a grain of salt as Kroenke is a member of the Los Angeles Stadium Working Group Committee.
AEG (Alderac Entertainment Group) got approval to build a top of the line NFL Stadium next to the Staples center. Now they just need approval from the NFL and a team. AEG is promising to privately fund the stadium. AEG has talked with multiple teams about moving to Los Angeles but they have had dealing with Kroenke before. In fact they have been partners. Together they manage Broomfield  Event Center in Denver, where Kroenke owned the Nuggets for a long time.
St. Louis is a mid-sized market town getting smaller everyday but Los Angeles is the second biggest market only behind New York and they can easily support two teams. But didn't the rams recently move from Los Angeles? They did but St. Louis has a clause that they need to have a top eight stadium. They don't. So St. Louis needs to come up with a sufficient plan of a new stadium by February of 2012. It doesn't look like they will be able to. St. Louis doesn't have the money. Webster University Sports Economist Patrick Rishe in an interview with Fox 2 News says "I don't think that Stan Kroenke will get a new stadium in St. Louis for two reasons. One, I don't think he's willing to put up enough of his own money, and two, St. Louisans are going to be reluctant to put up their own money themselves."
St. Louis fans probably will not want to support a struggling team. The Rams seemed like they were becoming a good team last year when they left the season 7-9 after 1-15 the year before. But the Rams have the toughest early schedule in the league. In boards many Ram fans are wondering if this schedule was purely political in nature to help bring a bad team to leave St. Louis.
The Rams are in the top five worst teams filling up their stadium. That's because St. Louis in the majority are bandwagon fans or Cardinal fans. Since the Rams are currently losing, the stadium even has a tougher time filling up. But Los Angeles has the capacity to fill eight games a season definitely when a new team and stadium are there.
St. Louis originally had the football Cardinals but they moved to Arizona. There is still a big Cardinal fan base there but St. Louis was never a football town, it was always a baseball town and will remain that way if the Rams stay bad. Los Angeles on the other hand is so diverse that no one sport controls the city. The Rams already have a fan base in Los Angeles County and Orange County. The Rams never really belonged in St. Louis.
The Rams seem like the most appropriate choice to move to Los Angeles. But that doesn't mean they will. Another likely team is the San Diego Chargers. The Chargers can't fill the stadium and have a small fan base in Los Angeles that is growing by the year. Like all teams their value would raise immensely. On top of that the Chargers have stated their intentions about leaving. The Raiders have met with the AEG and if they would leave it would be for the new stadium. With the recent death of Al Davis this means their chances could increase or decrease by a lot depending on what happens with the ownership. The Vikings have had concern about their stadium over the last couple of years and with the avalanche on their dome last year they complain more. But what are the chance Minnesota will allow themselves to lose another team to Los Angeles after they lost the Lakers? Definitely when the Vikings have a huge fan base. The Bills need a new stadium but if they move it will probably be to Toronto where they already play a home game every year. Also, the Bills are playing good right now, something they haven't done in such a long time. Buffalo doesn't want to miss out on that. The Jaguars are another good fit for Los Angeles. They are last in value and last in filling a stadium up. However, owner Wayne Weaver has turned down many offers to move and expressed his wanting to stay in Jacksonville.
No matter who moves, Los Angeles will have a team soon. It will be a move from another city and not an expansion the NFL has stated. Who? Only time will tell, but the good bets are on the Rams or Chargers.

Tampa Keeps Indy Winless

Buccaneers 24, Indianapolis 17

Besides for the Sunday night game this week all the national games have been great this year and..........BUCS/COLTS was no exception. The Colts has Peyton Manning as an assistant coach for the second game in a row. How much can he help? Surprisingly a lot. The defense looked good because the offense play calling was Manning-esque. However, the Bucs running game just was too much, even for a smart defense.

Buccaneer Pros - Running game from Torain was the biggest factor for the win.

Buccaneer Cons - Big penalties neglected a lot of good plays.

Colts Pro - Manning in the booth makes them competitive.

Colts Con - Many missed tackles gave a lot of yards and first downs up.

Top 3 things That Have Been Effected From Lockout

Many things have been effected from the short offseason, but these three top it.

#3-Officiating

How this happened is beyond anyone, but look at every game you have watched. There are horrible calls this year. The fact is there has been so many to just even go through.

#2-Wide Receivers

Every team has had trouble here. Many receivers have had trouble with catching and dropped passes. Worst team here has been the Rams.

#1-Secondary

The most obvious. Not enough time due to the lockout has really affected the secondary and QBs are taking advantage. Many QBs this year have thrown for over 300 yards, even Rookie Cam Newton who had three out four games for over 300 yards. Worst team here has been the Patriots.

Redskins Hold On VS Rams

Redskins 17, Rams 10

Though it was not a blowout, early in the game was all Redskins. It was just some Rams self-stabs (mostly dropped passes by WR Sims-Walker) that got the skins there. At a 17-0 halftime, the Rams seemed done. Washington RB Torain came out running up and down. But the Ram's defense led by LB Laurinaitis kept them in, and the Rams offense scored 10 unanswered points. But in the end the Rams offense couldn't capitalize. This was the easiest of their six games but they are 0-4.

Redskins Pro - Defensive line stopped Jackson. RB Torain had a big day vs the Rams

Redskins Con -Grossman starts showing his true colors. The special teams kept hitting the PR Pettis before he could could catch fairly causing 15 yard penalties twice.

Rams Pro - Bradford is on, he throws so accurate, he was a little jittery but how can you not when you constantly get hit. Pettis took hits like a man and made some nice catches, it's the Boise State in him. Special teams was great, nice coverage.

Rams Con - Way too many dropped passes, most notable Sims-Walker and TE Kendricks.

Week 4 Power Rankings

1(1)-Green Bay Packers-(3-0)-Defense hasn't been great but offense has.

2(7)-Baltimore Ravens-(2-1)-Only problem is you don't know who will show up every week.
