Over a tough season for the St. Louis Rams, no question has been asked more than "What is Steve Spagnuola's job security?" After taking over the Rams head coaching position, Steve Spagnuola has only won ten games and has lost over thirty. Under any normal circumstance a new coach is in order. But the Rams are not by any means a normal circumstance. In fact, getting rid of Steve Spagnuola is the wrong move.
Typically a head coach gets about three years to prove what he's got and then he's out. This is a system that many teams seem to use, but it's a problem when you have a good coach. Taking over a team in a rebuilding process sets a team back by about three years. You need new coaches, new players, new schemes. Usually you do it to get rid of a bad coach, not a good one. Spagnuolo has already proven his system works when last year he brought a 1-15 team to 7-9 and second in the division. His conservative game in which he plays for field position is something Ram fans haven't seen in a long time and aren't use to it.
Scott Linehan took over the St. Louis Rams for the 2006 season. The team was before under Mike Martz and was starting to go downhill. Scott Linehan had a chance to take a decent team and bring them back to winning, but after an 8-8 season, he brought them to 3-13. Scott Linehan was one of the, if not the worst coach the Rams franchise has ever had dating back to their years in Cleveland. The team was destroyed. Steve Spagnuola took over that team, but the rebuilding process for a team with so little talent and who barely have any draft picks remain, takes years.
The rebuilding was starting to pay off though as the Rams seemingly became a playoff contender. But did everyone forget about the lockout? The Rams who are one of the youngest teams got no time to practice. Many of their key players are in their first three years (Sam Bradford, Roger Saffold, James Laurinaitis, Robert Quinn, Lance Kendricks).
The Rams also have a new offensive coordinator who they did not get to practice with. Josh McDaniels took over after Pat Shurmur took a head coaching job in Cleveland. Though they have only two games with a score of more than sixteen points and the offense has looked sluggish, there are those times where you can see that it will gel together. And they never got to practice. Sam Bradford needs time to learn the offense and if Spagnuola goes, that most likely means McDaniels will go. That can ruin Bradford giving him three offensive coordinators and two head coaches in three years.
Injuries have also piled up on the Rams due to lack of conditioning. Spagnuolo's defense has some games where they let the big plays go. But the Rams have ten defensive players on injured reserve. The defense you have now doesn't show a good example of a real Spagnuolo defense like he had in New York. The Rams also lost some players on offense, especially in the receiving core (Danny Amendola, Mark Clayton, Greg Salas). All in all Spagnuolo has key players out for multiple games at a time (Sam Bradford, Steven Jackson, Danny Amedola, Roger Saffold, Jason Smith).
The Rams want to win badly. The players play for him and they love him. Any person can see he is a good coach. When asked about Steve Spagnuolo, Jimmy Johnson said "Football is a game of winning...but it's not always the coaches." Tim Ryan even went on to say when announcing a Rams game that Stan Kreonke should keep Spagnuolo.
No matter what happens, it will be a mistake to fire Steve Spagnuolo after the season. He should be given one more year on the hot seat.

Peterson Returned Against the Rams Again as the Cardinals Win
Cardinal 23, Rams 20
For the second time in three weeks the Arizona Cardinals played the St. Louis Rams. Though the points were a little higher the second time around both games were almost identical. In the beginning of both games the Rams had a small lead but blew it in the end. In both games rookie Patrick Peterson ran for over 80 yards on a punt return. But the main difference in this game was the return of RB Beanie Wells who did not play in the first game.
FIRST QUARTER
The Rams got the ball first but punted it away to the Cardinals, trying to keep it away from Peterson (but as slow as their offense has been it looked a little better this week). Not having QB Kevin Kolb in for the fourth week, backup QB John Skelton took center stage and after only one first down the Cardinals punted it to newly signed Punt Returner Nick Miller, who returned a touchdown and favor giving the Rams a seven point lead. After some possessions the Cardinals finally got close enough and kicked a field goal by Kicker Jay Feeley.
Rams 7, Cardinal 3
SECOND QUARTER
The Cardinals and Rams played back and forth as they just kept giving the ball back. With just a couple of minutes left the Rams received and went 63 yards to kick a field by Josh Brown and go up by seven.
Rams 10, Cardinals 3
THIRD QUARTER
The Cardinals received first and went 61 yards to make Jay Feely's second field goal and bring to within four. But the Rams could not answer. Shortly after Beanie who already over 100 yards scored a touchdown for the lead. But the Rams could not answer again and punted it Patrick Peterson who returned the punt for 80 yards and a touchdown.
Cardinals 20, Rams 10
FOURTH QUARTER
The Rams (who only scored one game with more than sixteen points this season) did not give up. After just two plays in, Josh Brown kicked his second field goal to bring it within a touchdown. A couple of drives later the Rams again went down the field but this time with a touchdown from QB Sam Bradford to WR Brandon Lloyd tying the game. But the next possession the Cardinals went down for another good Jay Feely kick sealing the victory.
Cardinal 23, Rams 20
Cardinals Pro - Patrick Peterson's punt return for 80 yards and Beanie Wells who rushed for over 200 yards.
Cardinals Con - The offensive line let pressure come from the Rams all day to John Skelton.
Rams Pro - The pass defense kept WR Larry Fitzgerald from being a factor.
Rams Con - While the Rams have the eighth best pass defense, their rush defense is last as Beanie Wells ran all over them.

Week 11 Power Ranking 2011-2012
Every time the Packers made a Superbowl, they made a repeat appearance the following year. It looks like they are headed that way as they keep the number one spot from the beginning of the season. The 49ers stay in second as everyone in the NFC West one last week, the first time since the 2002 re-alignment. Saints stay third heading into their bye week, one of the four last teams to do so. Chicago Beats Vick and the Eagles
Chicago 30, Eagles 24
Micheal Vick and his Eagles have been one of the most disappointing teams of the season and today they lost to a game they should of won. Lovie Smith is a good coach and his Chicago team shows it. They are playoff bound and one of the best teams in the NFC and NFL.
Bears Pros - The defense put up too much pressure for Micheal Vick.
Bears Cons - Matt Forte had two big fumbles.
Eagles Pro - Lesean Mccoy kept the Eagles in it.
Eagles Con - DeSean Jackson did not play to his normal level.

Arizona May Just Have Ended the Rams Season Hopes
Cardinals 19, Rams 13
Two of the bottom five teams battled it out this week in an NFC West rivalry. While both teams didn't look bad, not one looked exceptional. This game went to overtime as the cardinals won with a 99 yard punt return from rookie Peterson.
Cardinals Pro - Peterson held new Ram Brandon Lloyd to a non-factor late in the game, he also had the game winning punt return.
Cardinals Con - QB John Skelton had two safeties in two consecutive drives.
Rams Pro - The defense had multiple negative plays and stopped Fitzgerald most of the game. Steven Jackson had his second 100 yard game in a row.
Rams Con - Questionable play calling on offense by Josh McDaniels

Game and Dog of Week 9 2011-2012
GAME OF THE WEEK
Ravens at Steelers
This week has some good match ups but the biggest and most important is this division rivalry. The Ravens have a lead on the Steelers already winning versus them in week one, in which they destroyed the Steelers. But recently the Steelers have played exceptional while the Raven played sub-par. Both have only two losses and a win by the Steelers will tie their Head-to-Head.
Steelers 20, Ravens 13
DOG OF THE WEEK
Rams at Cardinals
This division rivalry has nothing to offer but the battle for last place. It looks like Kolb is out but Bradford is back in.
