Ranking Each Team's First Pick: #13 Frank Ragnow

In case you haven't seen the first twelve picks, let me explain what is going on. I'm ranking each team's first pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. The rankings are first (which was Josh Allen to the Bills) to the worst. Yesterday's pick was Quenton Nelson. Nelson is an offensive lineman who was picked by the Indianapolis Colts. Nelson wasn't the first offensive lineman be picked in the top fifteen. And he isn't going to be the last as center Frank Ragnow is ranked as the 13th best "first" pick in the NFL Draft.

A good chuck of teams have committed to protecting their quarterbacks with their first pick in this year's draft. Ragnow is just another example as the Lions needed a center who can work with Matthew Stafford. Last year's starting center in Detroit was Travis Swanson. But Swanson signed with the New York Jets this off-season. It isn't such a loss for Detroit though as Swanson had an injury history. Ragnow is expected to start at center this year, but The Detroit News says he may be a guard initially. Ragnow did not allow a sack last year. This is a great pick up for the Lions.

Ranking Each Team's First Pick: #12 Quenton Nelson

Welcome back to the Moshe Football Draft Rankings for each team's first pick. There has not been a new ranking since Friday due to the Jewish holiday of Shavout. Today I give the 12th best spot to guard Quenton Nelson. Nelson was the first offensive lineman drafted this year when the Indianapolis Colts drafted him sixth overall. Andrew Luck hasn't played a snap in a year and a half (if not more). This makes sense for Indy as they will need to protect their injured star as he gets back into the groove of things.

Ranking Each Team's First Pick: 11 Minkah Fitzpatrick

This will be the last ranking until Tuesday due to the Jewish holiday of Shavout. Today's ranking is Minkah Fitzpatrick who was drafted by the Miami Dolphins.

Ranking Each Team's First Pick: 10 Isaiah Wynn

Each day I will be ranking each team's first pick from first to worst. So far we have seen nine people ranked. Now that we are in double digits it seems to be time to rank a Patriot. New England's first pick this year was Isaiah Wynn. He is an offensive lineman out of Georgia. This is a good pick by Bill Belichick who needs to protect an aging Tom Brady. The Patriots reconfirmed their commitment to a few more years of Brady when they sent off Jimmy Garoppolo to the San Francisco 49ers. Garoppolo is being hailed as the next GOAT, but I wouldn't be surprised if Belichick knew Jimmy's success was because of the New England system.

I'm going to end my post here because I can go into a whole rant about Garoppolo.

Ranking Each Team's First Pick: #9 Mike McGlinchey

Each day, I'm ranking every NFL team's first pick in this year's draft. Today, we reveal who #9 is. It's Mike McGlinchey! Anyone who follows me on Twitter, knows that I think the 49ers were crazy by giving Jimmy Garoppolo such a crazy deal. But they did. Now they have to protect him and they got the right offensive lineman to do the job.

Ranking Each Team's First Pick: #8 Taven Bryan

Each day I will be ranking each team's first pick in the 2018 NFL Draft from first to worst. So far we have see some obvious picks like Sam Darnold going to the Jets at number 3 and Josh Allen going to the Bills at number 7 in the draft. Yesterday, was the first day where I ranked a non-top 10 pick when number 17 overall, Derwin James, who was picked by Chargers was ranked #7 by me. The 8th best "first" pick in the 2018 NFL draft is . . . Taven Bryan!

Remember, the rankings aren't only based on talent, but a number of other factors like team fit. Bryan, who was picked number 29 by the Jacksonville Jaguars, is not a sexy pick. Bryan has a lot of talent, but it is raw. Many criticize, the Jaguars for not going with an offensive player. However, the Jaguars know that their wins come from the strength of their defense. This pick helps their amazing defense get even better. This pick reminds me a little bit of when the Rams (who were in St. Louis at the time) picked Aaron Donald. The Rams already had a great defensive line when they picked Donald, but Donald helped raise the line to a new level. Bryan won't have the same effect as Donald, but Bryan will be able to develop without the pressure to provide for the team right away in an defense who he fits in scheme wise.

Ranking Each Team's First Pick: #7 Derwin James

Each day I'm ranking each teams first pick. Today is #7 Derwin James. James helps the Chargers instantly as many experts say they have the deepest secondary.

Ranking Each Team's First Pick: #6 Roquan Smith

The sixth pick is Roquan Smith who was picked by the Bears.

Ranking Each Team's First Pick: Saquon Barkley

Sorry there was no new ranking for two days. I had one more final and my dad was visiting for his 60th birthday.

Anyways, today is the revealing of the 5th best first draft pick for each team in this year's draft. So far we have seen three QBs and a defensive player. Now we see the first non-qb offensive player. It is running back Saquon Barkley.

Barkley is considered by many as the best player in the draft and people think he is a generational player. He has the talent, but his pick is only ranked in the 5th spot because the Giants should probably have picked up Sam Darnold after the Browns botched their pick on Baker Mayfield. The Giants need someone to take over Eli Manning's reign eventually and if Barkley doesn't help the Giants win a Superbowl before Manning retires, then this will be a much criticized pick. It's not the picking running backs so early is always bad (you can get an Ezekiel Elliot every so often. It's just that they usually turn out to be a Trent Richardson. The last time a running back was drafted number 2 overall was Reggie Bush and he had about two solid seasons (he was mostly a sideshow for teams like the Saints), and his career is considered "average" to "alright" at best.

Ranking Each Team's First Pick: #4 Bradley Chubb

So far we have seen the top three spots go to QBs. Today, we see the first spot not only going to a non-quarterback, but also to a defender. The fourth spot is Bradely Chubb. Chubb was actually 5th in the draft, but Cleveland took a questionable but understandable chance on a cornerback instead. The Browns mistake is Denver's gain. Broncos fans will be happy as this guy will be good!

Ranking Each Team's First Pick: #3 Sam Darnold

Every day for the next month I will be ranking each team's first pick from first to worst. The player's overall ability is not the only factor. So far the list comprises of #1 Josh Allen and #2 Josh Rosen. The third best pick is . . . Sam Darnold.

Sam Darnold is ranked by many as the best QB in the draft. I agree he is the most QB ready, but his tape never impressed me that much. I think we will see a roof for him soon. Still, he was a good pick for the Jets at number 3, especially since he should have been drafted by the Browns at number 1 or the Giants at number 2. He is not going to a great spot since the Jets have seemed to only be beaten out as the worst team because Cleveland has been atrocious. We probably won't see much success right away, but in a few years we may see a team fighting for a wildcard spot.

Ranking Each Teams First Pick: #2 Josh Rosen

For the next month or so, I will be ranking the first pick of each team from the best pick to the worst pick. The picks are ranked based of a number factors and not just the player overall. Yesterday kicked off the rankings and saw Josh Allen as the best pick in the draft. Now, the second best (first pick) in the draft is . . . Josh Rosen!

There were four, (yep four!), quarterbacks taken in the first 10 picks. Josh Rosen was the fourth as he was drafted #10 overall by the Arizona Cardinals. Josh Rosen has been underrated because people think he has maturity issues. But Josh Rosen may actually be the best QB in the class. He has pinpoint accuracy and a deadly arm. Despite being the fourth QB taken, ESPN ranks his at the number 2 player in his position.

The Cardinals signed Sam Bradford this past free agency. However, we all know that Sam Bradford has a horrible injury history. That's what makes the Cardinals' (who moved up for Rosen) pick so great. Rosen is NFL ready and will play with a chip on his shoulder.

Ranking Each Teams First Draft Pick: #1 Josh Allen

For the next month (give or take a few days), I will be ranking each teams first pick in the draft. I will be considering a few different factors that include: overall rank, NFL ready, position rank, and team fit. The number one ranking is . . . Josh Allen!

People question if this Wyoming quarterback can actually be successful in the NFL. But he will be. There is some question about his accuracy, but Josh Allen should have been the number one pick. He slid due to a twitter scandal. Still, he slid into a better position. The Patriots are on their way down, but in a year or two the Bills can very easily be division contenders.
